About the Role

We're seeking a Publishing Platform Manager to join our Journals department at the Royal Society of Chemistry. In this pivotal role, you'll manage the operation and development of our journals publishing platform, including the implementation and launch of a new commercial off-the-shelf platform.

 

At the RSC we embrace flexibility and offer hybrid working, which means our teams come together when they need to collaborate. Although this role is contractually based at our Cambridge office, you will be able to work from home within the UK, with the expectation that you will attend the office as needed for your role.

 

In this role it is expected that you will attend the office on an ad-hoc basis. If you need flexible working arrangements, please outline this in your application.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a publishing Subject Matter Expert within the Journal Platform Launch project team
  • Develop the future roadmap for platform development and lead its delivery
  • Optimize content delivery to readers, improving customer satisfaction and content discoverability
  • Be the primary link between RSC and the platform vendor
  • Monitor website performance and user interaction
  • Ensure platform and content compliance with accessibility standards
  • Manage platform spend and make budget recommendations
  • Provide technical support and user training on the platform

 

Required Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrable experience in managing or supporting digital platforms and systems
  • Strong vendor management and communication skills
  • Excellent prioritization and stakeholder management abilities
  • Quick learner with strong problem-solving skills
  • Solid understanding of academic publishing processes and standards

 

Desirable Skills

  • Experience working within projects
  • Experience working with agile product teams
  • Experience in requirements gathering and solution delivery
  • Systems testing and quality assurance experience
